Emergency Services Sports Equality Pledge
Championing Inclusion. Empowering Every Athlete
Our Mission
Emergency service workers give their all to protect and serve our communities.
Yet, when it comes to sports and recreation, not all have equal opportunities to participate, compete, and thrive.
The Emergency Services Sports Equality Pledge is a national commitment for police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, and other emergency service organisations to:
Support adaptive and inclusive sports with the same recognition, funding, and opportunities as mainstream sports.
Champion equality in training, facilities, and representation for all employees, regardless of ability or background.
Promote wellbeing through accessible sporting opportunities that strengthen both physical and mental health.
Why It Matters
Sports are more than game, they build resilience, teamwork, and pride. For emergency service workers, they also provide vital stress relief and camaraderie.
Yet, adaptive and inclusive sports often face:
Limited funding and sponsorship
Fewer training opportunities
Lower visibility and recognition
By signing the pledge, your organisation takes a stand for fairness, visibility, and opportunit, ensuring every emergency service athlete can shine.
The Pledge
By signing, your organisation commits to:
Equal Support – Provide the same level of organisational backing for adaptive and inclusive sports as for mainstream sports.
Accessible Facilities – Ensure sports facilities and equipment are inclusive and accessible to all.
Promotion & Recognition – Celebrate achievements of adaptive and inclusive athletes equally in internal and public communications.
Funding & Resources – Allocate fair funding, sponsorship, and training opportunities.
Ongoing Review – Regularly assess and improve inclusivity in sports programmes.
