The Emergency Services Covenant
Standing Together for Those Who Serve
A Promise to the UK’s Emergency Heroes
Every day, members of our emergency services, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard, search and rescue, and volunteer responders, put themselves in harm’s way to protect us. They face danger, trauma, and immense pressure, often without the recognition or support they truly deserve. The Emergency Services Covenant is a national commitment to honour, protect, and support every member of the emergency services community, including volunteers, and their families.
This is more than words
It’s a pledge to ensure that those who serve us are never left to face hardship alone.
Why We Need the Covenant
Mental Health Support
Emergency workers are more likely to experience PTSD, anxiety, and depression due to the nature of their work.
Family Support
The impact of service extends beyond the individual; families often bear the emotional and practical burdens too.
Fair Treatment
Whether in healthcare, housing, or employment, those who serve should never be disadvantaged because of their role.
Recognition
Volunteers and full-time professionals alike deserve equal respect and access to support.
What the Covenant Will Deliver
