Simple 10-Step Guide
Cooking Class
1. Download and fill in your fundraising pack
Set out a clear plan and utilise the BLS marketing and promotional material.
2. Choose a Theme
Pick a style of cooking that excites people—Italian pasta night, plant-based baking, street food, or seasonal dishes.
3. Find a Venue
Secure a kitchen space that’s safe, well-equipped, and can accommodate your expected number of participants. Community centres, restaurants, or schools often work well.
4. Partner with a Chef or Instructor
Collaborate with a local chef, food blogger, or skilled volunteer who can lead the class and bring personality to the event.
5. Set a Date & Time
Choose a date that avoids major holidays or local events. Evenings or weekends usually work best for attendance.
6. Plan the Menu & Ingredients
Select recipes that are achievable within the class time. Source ingredients affordably—local markets or sponsors may donate supplies.
7. Price Your Tickets
Factor in costs for venue, ingredients, and marketing, then set a ticket price that ensures a healthy donation margin.
8. Promote the Event
Use social media, local community boards, newsletters, and word-of-mouth. Share appealing food photos and highlight the cause.
9. Create a Welcoming Atmosphere
On the day, set up stations, provide recipe cards, and greet guests warmly. Consider adding music, decorations, or a small raffle.
10. Thank & Follow Up
After the event, thank attendees and sponsors. Share photos, the total amount raised, and how it will help the cause.
